Nanaimo Community Dances has been running Community Social Dances in the city of Nanaimo, BC for the last 15 years. They began as dances offered to people with developmental disabilities but has since grown to be inclusive of everyone of all ages, disabilities and backgrounds. The philosophy has always been to create an environment which is as accessible and inclusive as possible for those who may not be able to celebrate in places such as Nightclubs.

These FREE dances include a non-alcoholic Nightclub like environment with Lasers and concert like moving head lights with Music Videos. We have snacks & drinks, prizes, arts & crafts, a face painting station and a photographer taking pictures for the 7 foot picture wall all run by the many incredible volunteers.

Recently, during the COVID-19 Pandemic, We have been offering FREE Livestream Virtual Dance Parties with Music Requests to help maintain a sense of connection and joy. These are open to anyone around the world who wants to join. These currently have several options to join. To be able to watch other dancers, we recommend the Zoom option. This allows you to join and watch anyone who chooses to have their camera on. There is no need to have yours on if you do not want to.

Nanaimo Community dances is run by Neil Cutler; a DJ, Community Support Worker and Yoga Teacher. Known as "FullSpectrum", Neil has left hemi cerebral palsy and has been DJing ever since he was 19 years old. His latest challenge has been learning to scratch by using a foot controller.

Ron Greenhorne, also known as DJ Rock has been involved with Nanaimo Community Dances almost from it's birth. He took quickly to helping setup then began learning how to DJ. His passion and confidence has been growing over the years and now he joins Neil not only DJing the dances but also MCing and playing games with the crowd.
